WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Chief Justice John Roberts suffered a seizure Monday, causing him to fall while at his summer home off the coast of Maine, the Supreme Court said.

Roberts has "fully recovered from the incident," and a neurological evaluation "revealed no cause for concern," the Supreme Court said in a statement.

Doctors called the incident a "benign idiopathic seizure," similar to one suffered by the chief justice in 1993, the court statement said. An idiopathic seizure is one with no identifiable physiological cause.

A source close to the chief justice told CNN that Roberts fell five to 10 feet after the seizure.

Roberts, 52, was conscious after the fall, which caused only minor scrapes, the Supreme Court said.

For the left, this is a time...for celebration.

JAILED HAMZA MOANS: STOP PICKING ON ME

HATE preacher Abu Hamza has complained of the tough conditions behind bars, it was revealed yesterday.

The cleric, serving seven years for inciting murder of non-Muslims, says he is the victim of a prison bullying campaign.

And he has even complained about the lack of soft furnishings in his cell.

An Islamic group has taken up the hook-handed preacher’s cause and is demanding human rights organisations help him.

Hamza’s “plight” at top secur­ity Belmarsh Prison in south-east London was revealed in a letter from his wife, Nagat Mostafa, to the al-Maqreze Centre for Historical Studies.

In her letter written in May, shortly after her husband had surgery to remove an inch of bone from his infected left arm stump, she asked them to do all they could.

The mother of seven of Hamza’s children wrote: “I would like to bring to your attention the current plight of my husband, currently imprisoned in Belmarsh.

“He was taken from his cell without any prior notification to have an operation to amputate a further part of his arm.

“Firstly, I must say that the reason that his arm needed further amputation was because of the removal of his prostheses, resulting in him constantly putting pressure on the remainder of his fore limbs.

“As there is no soft furnishing in his cell, he has been suffering considerable pain and discomfort.

“After surgery, before he had even recovered from the anaesthetic, he was returned to Belmarsh, only to be told he had to move from his cell to another one.

Here's for having Hamza's entire body fill with pus before he dies a putrid rotten death. We are all for that, as soon as possible.

John Humphrys and Jeremy Paxman will be required to join Mark Thompson, the director general of the BBC, on a mandatory new training programme to teach honesty to BBC staff.

The Safeguarding Trust course is being set up as part of the damage limitation exercise by the corporation after the revelation that six children's and charity television programmes had misled viewers.

Mark Byford, the deputy director general, giving evidence to a Commons Culture Select Committee yesterday, said all employees, no matter how senior or famous, would have to attend the course if involved in making programmes.

Mr Byford, who was giving evidence with Caroline Thomson, the chief operating officer, said: "Everyone must be reminded about what the BBC stands for and what trust is."

Here is what the BBC stands for: anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, anti-Semitism, anti-anything George W. Bush.

This Just In: Britain Blames Bush for Not Getting Bin Laden - Back in 1998

According to the liberals, George W. Bush is to blame for everything bad that happens. Floods in England? Bush's fault. Hurricane Katrina? Bush's fault - or he caused it. 9/11? Bush's fault - or he was behind it.

Now, a new charge: the British wanted to get bin Laden, and could have gotten him, but the US government refused to promise it would not torture him if he was captured.

So, what's the deal behind this? Because it happened it 1998.

For those of you who are not liberals, with an IQ in double digits, George W. Bush was not President until January 2001 - which means he had nothing to do with this story from 1998. Who was President then? Could his name now be synonymous with a blowjob and a cigar shoved up a woman's private parts? The one whose God-ugly wife wants to be President next year?

UK wanted US to rule out Bin Laden torture

Ministers insisted that British secret agents would only be allowed to pass intelligence to the CIA to help it capture Osama bin Laden if the agency promised he would not be tortured, it has emerged.

MI6 believed it was close to finding the al-Qaida leader in Afghanistan in 1998, and again the next year. The plan was for MI6 to hand the CIA vital information about Bin Laden. Ministers including Robin Cook, the then foreign secretary, gave their approval on condition that the CIA gave assurances he would be treated humanely. The plot is revealed in a 75-page report by parliament's intelligence and security committee on rendition, the practice of flying detainees to places where they may be tortured.

So, the British could have gotten bin Laden. Now check out the rest of the story:

The report criticises the Bush administration's approval of practices which would be illegal if carried out by British agents. It shows that in 1998, the year Bin Laden was indicted in the US, Britain insisted that the policy of treating prisoners humanely should include him. But the CIA never gave the assurances.

"In 1998, SIS [MI6] believed that it might be able to obtain actionable intelligence that might enable the CIA to capture Osama bin Laden," the committee says in its report. It adds: "Given that this might have resulted in him being rendered from Afghanistan to the US, SIS sought ministerial approval. This was given provided that the CIA gave assurances regarding humane treatment." British intelligence made a similar request in 1999, and obtained the same response from Whitehall, but in the event MI6 did not provide the information.

There you have it - George W. Bush is to blame for the Clinton administration in 1998 refusing to rule out torturing bin Laden.

Spitzer Update: The Scandal Grows

As we noted yesterday, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, a crooked Downercrat, had his minions aides use state resources to try to dig up damaging information on NY State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno. Spitzer suspended the two minions aides when the scandal hit. Now, the State Ethics Commission will open an investigation into the actions of the criminal Governor Spitzer.

ALBANY -- Gov. Eliot Spitzer Thursday faced the prospect of new inquiries into his aides' plot to damage Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, with the Ethics Commission joining the Senate in requesting documents from a recently closed investigation by the attorney general.

In a combative news conference, Spitzer denied his administration had hindered the attorney general's probe, though his secretary, Richard Baum, and communications director Darren Dopp balked at being interviewed. They instead submitted brief sworn statements Sunday.

The refusals, Spitzer acknowledged, could raise questions with some. But he said he wasn't involved in deciding how to comply with the demands of Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's office, and wouldn't "second-guess" anyone's motives.

Spitzer added that he had answered all questions put to him by reporters.

"We have acted appropriately," he said. "We provided on a voluntary basis an enormous amount of information, in terms of individuals, in terms of documents that was turned over to the attorney general's office. They determined there was no violation of law and hence there was no need for further inquiry."

So, Spitzer's excuse is "nothing more to see here. End of investigation. Now get lost." And the media is thrilled to comply.

The question still remains: where is this story in the national media? Oh, perhaps it has been hushed up because the person who is behind this criminal activity is a Downercrat. There can be no other explanation.

"Good thing I never snipped one of these off," Ms. Lewis jokes, wiggling 10 fingers. Earlier this month, she signed up for state-subsidized insurance under a new Massachusetts law that aspires to universal coverage. The plan costs her $80 a month.

But it takes a lot more than an insurance card to see a doctor in this state.

On the day Ms. Lewis signed up, she said she called more than two dozen primary-care doctors approved by her insurer looking for a checkup. All of them turned her away.

So, now this woman pays $80 a month - for nothing. No doctor will see her for that. And now her primary care doctor is gone, as well.

Socialized medicine - it will be the death of all of us.

NY Governor Spitzer in Hot Water; Media Yawns

Imagine this scenario: President Bush has secret agents follow Downercrats to see what they are doing, and to collect information on them which could be used by Bush against the Downies. Just imagine the reactions of morons like Keith Dimbulbermann and the rest of the liberal media...and imagine the reactions of the House and Senate leaders! Call for investigation! Impeachment! Now, switch the story around, and you see the latest in liberal hypocrisy: NY Governor Eliot Spitzer, a moron who lucked into the Governor's mansion in New York State, had some of his aides secretly trail leading Republicans, including State Senate Leader Joseph Bruno to see what damaging info they could dig up on him. And when they got caught, Spitzer merely suspended them rather than fired them. And who nailed Spitzer? The Dem Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, son of the former moron Governor, Mario Cuomo.

And what happened to this story? The NY Times has a strongly worded editorial - and there the matter ends. Y-A-W-N. Nothing else to see here - no more coverage! Shut off the cameras! Go home!

Mr. Spitzer’s Unacceptable Means

Ever since taking office, Gov. Eliot Spitzer of New York has made a name for himself as the avenger, the reformer, a political whirlwind who kicks up dust wherever he goes. Albany’s smarmy politics certainly need a reformer and, within reason, an avenger. But now a devastating report from a fellow Democrat, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, has accused Mr. Spitzer’s administration of abusing its power in the name of reform.

The report describes how the governor’s office used the state police to collect damaging information about Mr. Spitzer’s chief opponent, Joseph Bruno, the Senate majority leader, and then released that information to the press. Rather than a pursuit of possible wrongdoing, this episode has the smell of an old-fashioned dirty trick. If Mr. Spitzer does not make sure he has cleaned up his own house, his ability to clean up the rest of Albany could be severely compromised.

This whole seamy business began a few weeks ago with news reports that Mr. Bruno was using state-owned helicopters and cars to attend party fund-raising events. When the governor’s office started talking about an investigation, Mr. Bruno did too. He wanted investigators to determine whether the governor was using the pilots and state police to spy on him and whether the governor’s people were then leaking that information to the news media.

Mr. Cuomo’s report cleared the Senate leader of breaking New York’s very loose laws on the use of state transportation for political events. And it concluded that there was no surveillance ordered by the governor’s office. Instead it found that aides in the governor’s office had lied to state police — claiming they had received a Freedom of Information Law request — to get them to compile records of Mr. Bruno’s travel.

At a press conference yesterday, a somewhat muted Governor Spitzer kept insisting that there were no laws broken, and that he was unaware of his aides’ actions. But he admitted that his office had conducted a “grossly mishandled” operation. And he apologized to the public, the state police and to Senator Bruno. Mr. Spitzer also announced that he had suspended one top aide indefinitely and transferred the other to a job outside the governor’s office. Mr. Spitzer now needs to make certain that all the dirty laundry has been fully aired and that any other participants are also dismissed.

Wow! He "grossly mishandled" the operation! That's liberalspeak for "whoops, sorry for the criminal activity, but we are liberals (wink, wink), and can do that sort of thing! Now shut off the cameras! No more to see here!"

Where are the calls for a special prosecutor? The firings? The investigation?

You got it - Mehsud went right back to being a terrorist. This week, cornered in Pakistan, he blew himself up.

Former Guantanamo detainee blows himself up

A former Guantanamo Bay prisoner who took up arms alongside the Taliban after he was released from detention has blown himself up to avoid capture, Pakistani security forces said today.

Abdullah Mehsud killed himself with a hand grenade after he was cornered by troops at a house in the south-western Pakistani town of Zhob. He was wanted for the kidnapping of two Chinese engineers in 2004.

"My information is that (he) killed himself," said Atta Mohammed, the head of the police in Zhob. "Thanks be to God that only he was blown up and our men were safe."

Mehsud, 32, was released from the US detention centre in Cuba after two years in 2004 but immediately went back to violence when the Pakistani government began an offensive against the Taliban in the troubled region along the border with Afghanistan.

The one-legged militant was the leader of a group of fighters that kidnapped two Chinese engineers working on a hydroelectric dam project in South Waziristan. Pakistan was forced to apologise to China after one of the hostages died in the subsequent rescue attempt.

Mehsud escaped after the incident and has been hunted by Pakistani forces ever since.

This is why President Bush should tell the world's scumbags who cry for the terrorists at Guantanamo Bay: FUCK OFF, ASSHOLES.

"How long are we going to allow a person — from any country in the world — to come to our own house to say there’s a dictatorship here, that the President is a tyrant, and nobody does anything about it?" asked Mr Chavez, speaking during his weekly Sunday television and radio programme.

"No foreigner, whoever he may be, can come here and attack us. Whoever comes, we must remove him from the country," he said. "I’m talking about some gentlemen who come here for conferences." The Venezuelan leader did not elaborate but his statements came after Manuel Espino, the president of Mexico’s conservative ruling party, criticised Mr Chavez for seeking indefinite rule during a recent pro-democracy forum in Caracas.

Government opponents argue Mr Chavez — a close ally of Cuban leader Fidel Castro — is becoming increasingly authoritarian and cracking down on dissent as he steers oil-rich Venezuela toward what he calls "21st-century socialism".Mr Chavez rejects such allegations, countering that democratic freedoms have been extended since he was first elected in 1998. The former paratroops commander says his government has empowered the poor by giving them increased decision-making authority.

BBC apologises in row over 'mistake' in SNP survey

THE BBC has suffered another credibility blow after admitting that it made up a Newsnight survey suggesting that most of Britain and Scotland's leading businesses were not in favour of independence.

Presenter Jeremy Paxman had told SNP leader Alex Salmond that 'not one' of 50 firms, made up of 25 in Britain and 25 north of the border, supported the party's independence policy on a TV special shown before the Holyrood elections in May.

The Sunday Herald has discovered the BBC has since apologised after a viewer complained the 'straw poll' was mis-represented by Paxman because only a handful of companies replied to the survey.

Details of the latest mistake emerged only days after a number of corporation staff were told to 'step back' from their duties over their involvement in a fake phone-in scandal affecting six programmes, including BBC Scotland's Children In Need Appeal.

The BBC's head of editorial complaints, Fraser Steel, responding to the complaint by viewer Chris Hegarty conceded that only seven of the 50 firms approached for their views on independence had replied.

Imagine if a taxpayer-funded media outlet in the US was caught time and time again lying to fit a liberal agenda...you would have PBS, wouldn't you?

The BBC executive board gathered for its regular meeting last Tuesday morning for coffee, biscuits and meltdown. The previous evening, at 5pm, the deadline had passed for producers to come forward confessing, in a spirit of openness and honesty, to programmes they had made that had misled the public in some way.

The invitation for them so to do had been extended by both Jana Bennett, the BBC’s director of vision and an executive board member, and Jenny Abramsky, the BBC’s director of audio and music. They, and other BBC chiefs, were giving staff a chance to come clean after revelations that a trailer for a programme about the Queen had been less than truthful with viewers, and that the corporation had also been fined £50,000 for faking a Blue Peter competition.

Much to the apparent surprise of Bennett and Abramsky, two experienced and highly respected corporation bureaucrats, a procession of contrite and nervous producers came forward to ’fess up. The public, it seemed, had been deceived with unnerving consistency, particularly over programmes with phone-in polls and competitions. And on the corporation’s most noble flagship enterprises, too. Comic Relief and Children in Need, for example.

“We just sat there absolutely stunned,” one executive board member told me, “shocked beyond belief. Nobody had any idea that this was going on on such a scale.”

They are "shocked"? At what - that they were caught lying? Or that they have a 60 year record of some of the most anti-capitalist, anti-American, and anti-Semitic rants ever heard outside of al Jazeera?

That is not shocking, folks. What is shocking is that BBC continues to suck at the tit of the British taxpayer - and that British governments continue to fund this insane monster.

In Liberal Land, up means down and the sky is green all day. So how odd should it appear that the Canadian Supreme Court has ruled that even if you commit a crime without a gun, saying that you have one means that you can be changed with a gun offense.

According to this theory, if I say I have a million dollars but have nothing, I am still a millionaire.

Offender can 'use' a handgun even without carrying one, top court rules

Threatening someone with a gun may be enough to warrant being charged with a firearms offence, even if one isn't being carried, Canada's top court ruled Friday.

In a unanimous ruling, the nine-member Supreme Court of Canada upheld a court decision in B.C. that convicted a man of gun possession, even though he argued he never had the weapon on him during a break-in four years ago.

It didn't matter whether 25-year-old Andre Omar Steele or his three accomplices carried a gun during the crime, the top court said.

An offender "uses" a firearm when he or she makes it known "by words or conduct" that it is available, and as long as it is on the body or readily available, Justice Morris Fish wrote.

Yep - liberal thinking at its finest.

The BBC Caught in Massive Cheating Scandal

The BBC, one of the three triads of journalistic evil, has been nailed to the wall in the latest scandal by the liars of the Left: they used fake names as winners of phone-in contests.

BBC phone-ins chose fake winners

The BBC faced a grave crisis of public trust last night after admitting that a series of flagship children's and charity phone-in programmes had deliberately deceived viewers.

Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sport Relief all featured fake competition winners, the corporation said.

An internal investigation, ordered after the BBC's apology to the Queen last week, also disclosed serious breaches of editorial standards involving a series of other phone-in shows. In some instances production staff posed as competition winners.

After the scale of the deceptions became clear, Mark Thompson, the director-general, immediately suspended all phone-related competitions on television and radio. Interactive and online competitions were also halted.

The inquiry identified cheating on six television and radio programmes. The audit - of a million hours of output since January 2005 - followed the row over a BBC1 trailer that wrongly implied that the Queen stormed out of a sitting with the photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Mr Thompson presented the inquiry's findings at a meeting with the BBC Trust, the corporation's governing body, which had demanded an explanation over the royal fiasco.

The trust called the editorial breaches "deeply disappointing" and ordered an immediate investigation.

A number of executives face suspension over the deceptions. Mr Thompson last night warned that dismissals were inevitable.

A number of senior BBC editorial staff have been suspended with immediate effect in the wake of revelations about faked phone-in competitions.

A BBC spokeswoman said junior personnel were not involved, but declined to comment on numbers or identities.

Meanwhile, BBC director general Mark Thompson has been given a vote of confidence by the BBC Trust.

Chairman Sir Michael Lyons said he was "the right person to lead change", and was "confident he will do it".

But he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme they would "suspend judgement until we have seen improvement".

The charity said in a statement that "these broadcast problems will not affect its grant-giving or donations in any way".

Sir Michael warned that the Trust, which oversees the BBC's activities and represents licence fee payers, would be "watching very carefully" to ensure the correct sanctions were applied.

"We will come back in a year's time to make sure the BBC is a different place to the one it is today," he said.

In one year, nothing will have changed. Then what? Will the BBC have to stop taking the £7 billion it gets from the British taxpayer each year for their rotten, Marxist programming?

The global jihad landed in Linda Spence's e-mail inbox during the summer of 2003, in the form of a message urging her to verify her eBay account information. The 35-year-old New Jersey resident clicked on the link included in the message, which took her to a counterfeit eBay site where she entered personal financial information.

Spence's information wound up in the hands of a man in Britain who investigators say was the brains behind a cell that sought to facilitate bombings in the United States, Europe and the Middle East.

Investigators say Spence's stolen data made its way via the Internet black market for stolen identities to a 21-year-old biochemistry student, Tariq al-Daour, one of three British residents who pleaded guilty this week to using the Internet to incite murder.

Much has been written about how radical Islamic groups use the Internet to distribute propaganda and recruit members. The British investigation, however, revealed a significant link between Islamic terrorist groups and cyber-crime, and experts say security officials must do more to understand and confront cyber-crime as part of any overall strategy for combating terrorism.

Investigators in the United States and Britain say the three used computer viruses and stolen credit card accounts to set up a network of communication forums and Web sites that hosted such things as tutorials on computer hacking and bomb-making, and videos of beheadings and suicide bombings in Iraq.

Authorities say one of the men, Waseem Mughal, a 24-year-old law student, was found with a computer containing a 26-minute video that included instructions in Arabic for preparing a suicide-bomb vest and a recipe for improvised explosives.

The third and perhaps best-known of the group, Moroccan-born Younes Tsouli, 23, became adept at setting up sites to host huge video files and other propaganda. Investigators said he became the de facto administrator of the online jihadist forum Muntada al-Ansar al-Islami, which once was the main Internet public relations mouthpiece of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq who was killed last month.

Well, they were captured. End of story, right?

AN al-Qaeda fanatic jailed for inciting murder online was caught making a website urging terror attacks - from his cell in Britain's most secure prison.

Tariq Al-Daour, 21, used a smuggled mobile phone and modem lead to access the internet on a laptop issued by the Prison Service to help him prepare his court case.

The laptop was seized after a violent struggle when prison officers suspected he was misusing it and the hate-filled website called Global Jihad was found.

The Home Office has launched an urgent inquiry to discover how the mobile was smuggled into Belmarsh's High Security Unit, which holds the country's most dangerous inmates.

They fear Al-Daour may have used it to contact other al-Qaeda terrorists and are scrutinising calls he made.

A senior prison source said yesterday: "It is frightening that an al-Qaeda prisoner was able to build an extremist website within Britain's supposedly most secure jail.

"This is a massive security breach. It's a real wake-up call.

"The fact he was inside for building terror websites means he should have been watched like a hawk.

"A mobile phone should never have managed to end up in the High Security Unit in the first place.

"Prisoners are strip-searched when they enter and leave. The fear is a corrupt member of staff got the phone in."

Al-Daour's website - built while he was on trial - was full of al-Qaeda propaganda calling on extremists to wage war on the West.

The source said: "The website was not finished, but it wasn't far off.

"He must have been working on it for some time as there were a lot of pages and text. It is staggering that he was able to work undetected."

Dhiren Barot: India-born jihadi in 9/11 net

WASHINGTON: Abu Musa al-Hindi, one of the principle terror suspects charged with plotting to attack US financial institutions, has been identified as India-born Dhiren Barot.

British police on Tuesday charged Barot, 32, of gathering surveillance plans of financial institutions in New York and Washington, with a view to attacking them.

Barot and seven others are due to make a first court appearance Wednesday at Belmarsh high security prison in London, according to wire service reports. AP quoted an unnamed US official as identifying Abu Musa al-Hindi as Dhiren Barot.

According to earlier reports, Barot was born into a Hindu family in India and converted to Islam when he was 20. He took part in terrorist campaigns against Indian forces in Kashmir and is said to have been the main casing agent for al-Qaeda.

Squirrel Spy Ring? Thats Nuts!

Police in Iran are reported to have taken 14 squirrels into custody - because they are suspected of spying.

The rodents were found near the Iranian border allegedly equipped with eavesdropping devices.

The reports have come from the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

When asked about the confiscation of the spy squirrels, the national police chief said: "I have heard about it, but I do not have precise information."

The IRNA said that the squirrels were kitted out by foreign intelligence services - but they were captured two weeks ago by police officers.

Next, Iran plans to arrest fish because Jews make them into gefilte fish, and they could turn in matzo balls.

Muslim group loses cartoons libel case in Denmark

A Muslim group lost a libel case on Friday against the leader of a Danish anti-immigrant party who had accused its members of treason for publicising cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.

A court ruled that Pia Kjaersgaard, leader of the Danish People's Party (DPP), did not libel the Islamic Faith Community when she accused some of its members of treason for travelling to the Middle East to publicise a Danish newspaper's publication of the drawings, which caused a worldwide uproar in 2006.

The court said the term "treason" was not libellous because it was used extensively in public debate. It ordered the plaintiffs, a loose network of Danish Muslim organisations which says it represents 50,000 members, to pay Kjaersgaard 40,000 Danish crowns ($7,400) in costs.

In September 2005, the newspaper Jyllands-Posten published 12 cartoons of the Prophet which were later reprinted elsewhere and provoked outrage among Muslims.

Three Danish embassies were attacked and at least 50 people were killed in rioting in the Middle East and Asia. Most Muslims regard any depiction of the Prophet as offensive.

"We are very disappointed with the verdict and are considering an appeal," said Kasem Ahmad, a spokesman for the Muslim group. He added that the group would issue a fatwa, or religious edict, against Jyllands-Posten if it did not receive an apology from the paper.

"It's too early to say any details of the fatwa," Ahmad said. "The fatwa is the last step and will also satisfy Muslims in the Middle East."

Kjaersgaard said she was relieved at the outcome but had expected to win.

"As a politician, I have both the duty and the right to express my opinion," she said. "I am convinced that many Danes felt as I did in the hectic winter days of 2006."

The DPP is not a member of the coalition government but supports it in parliament.

They may even threaten to cut someone's head off. This is the way Muslims do things now.

That's the reason that they're doing a good job of protecting the Shias, Kurds and Sunnis, but they are all trying to kill our soldiers. That is a recipe to bring our troops home. And that's why the Levin-Reed amendment is so critically important. …It transitions the mission within 120 days, and by the first day of May of next year, our troops will be out of there, our combat troops will be out of there. They will be left to do counterterrorism, training the Iraqis -- continuing to train the Iraqis and protecting our resources. That's what the Iraqi people want and that's what American people want.

It's time the training wheels come off and they take care of their own country. We have spent billions dollars. We're now spending $12 billion a month on Iraq. That's enough. The Left believes that Hugo Chavez is the answer for the world's problems - after all, they reason in their peanut brains, he is a socialist, and he hates George W. Bush and the United States, which is what the Left is all about. When he closes down a television station, they stand behind him because a free press is good only when it supports what the Left wants.

So, notice the dearth of reaction to the story that as Chavez continues to rape Venezuela and take control of everything in that country, its debt continues to rise. Billions stolen, and while poverty rises more and more, Chavez is spending tons of money on arms and aiding Iran and Cuba.

Can we all spell "revolution"? Because it will come sooner or later to Boss Hugo's oncoming financial disaster.

CHAVEZ VS. IRAN'S WORKING MAN

What happened? What did Chavez do with the unprecedented wealth that came to Venezuela under his stewardship?

Part of the answer lies in the fact that Venezuela leads Latin America in capital flight. Over the last eight years, Venezuelans have transferred something like $70 billion to foreign (mostly American) banks. Chavez has also spent billions helping Cuba and distributing free or cut-price oil in several countries (including some U.S. areas). During his visit to Iran last week, he extended that generosity to the Islamic Republic by promising to supply cut-price gasoline to meet a shortage that has already caused riots throughout the country.

It's clear that, somewhere along his trajectory, Chavez decided to cast himself in the role of a "fighter against Yankee Imperialism." With that decision made, all other considerations became secondary. The elimination of poverty could wait for another day. As for Bolivar's philosophy, it could be twisted to suit the new "heroic discourse."

To be sure, Chavez has set up something he calls a "Bolivarian alliance" in Latin America. But the regimes he has managed to attract - Cuba, Nicaragua and Bolivia - are more anachronistic communist set-ups than Bolivarian constructs. (Indeed, the Islamic Republic has now joined the "Bolivarian" alliance - added proof that the exercise is more motivated by anti-Americanism than by genuine Bolivarian values.)

In his visit to the Islamic Republic, his sixth in eight years, Chavez set aside his Bolivarian flag. He went on Khomeini's tomb to pray for the bloodthirsty theocrat, under whose rule more than 1.5 million Iranians died in war and government repression. Chavez described the Khomeinist system as "political spirituality" and a model for mankind as a whole. He was especially enthusiastic in his praise of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who seems determined to push the Middle East into a new period of conflict.

Senate headed for new clash over ethics

As Congress returns from its July 4th recess, Democratic leaders are expected to try to jumpstart negotiations on a stalled lobbying reform and ethics package.

And they are expected to run into opposition from Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), who dealt the Democrats a stinging defeat prior to the July 4th recess with a procedural move that split the Democratic caucus.

DeMint backs one of the key reforms the Democrats have promised -- a requirement that members disclose which earmarks they seek and certify that they have no financial interest linked to them.

In fact, he backs it so strongly that he is insisting that the House have no opportunity to alter it in conference, a demand the Democratic leadership calls a smokescreen for an attempt to derail the entire ethics reform project.

The potential impasse could delay action further and threaten passage of one of the Democrats' most important campaign promises.

Behind the scenes, it’s clear many senators are unhappy with a separate proposed requirement that lobbyists disclose how much money they bundle in campaign donations for incumbents and candidates.

Some lobbyists privately warn that they may limit their fundraising roles under such scrutiny.

Given the Abramoff scandal, publicly opposing those new bundling rules could prompt a costly political backlash for any senator.

So “it’s a pretty good bet there are members on both sides of the aisle who are thrilled” at DeMint’s decision to block creation of a conference committee to hammer out final language for the reform, said Meredith McGehee, an official at the Campaign Finance Institute, a nonpartisan group pushing for lobbying reform.

DeMint says he supports the lobbying reform provisions in the package. But he isn’t likely to budge until he gets a promise from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that the new Senate rules on earmarks won’t be watered down or deleted from the final bill.

The earmark provision is a change in Senate rules, which DeMint argues shouldn’t be part of any conference committee with the House.

“The House has no reason to tinker with Senate rules,” said Wesley Denton, DeMint's spokesman. “The only reason to want to put them in conference is because they intend to change them.”

Jim Manley, Reid’s spokesman, calls those assertions “phony as a two-dollar bill.”

Live Earth ratings on cool side

NEW YORK -- NBC's three-hour Live Earth primetime special, which included highlights from Saturday's global concerts, failed to generate much enthusiasm in the ratings.

The estimated 2.7 million viewers were slightly less than the 3 million NBC would average on a normal Saturday night in the summer with repeats on what already is the least-popular night of television.

It was less successful than what MSN experienced online for Live Earth. MSN said Monday that more than 8 million users streamed 15.4 million videos of Live Earth on MSN live. That's ahead of the 5 million people who watched 2005's Live 8 concert via AOL.

Ratings for individual cable networks weren't available until today, but Nielsen Media Research said Monday that 19 million people tuned in to at least six minutes of the telecasts on NBC, Bravo, Sundance or the other NBC Universal channels that were involved in Sunday's telecast.

NBC's telecast performed below the Live 8 concert two years ago, according to preliminary estimates by Nielsen Media Research.

So, if NBC has aired a test pattern, they would have gotten just about the same ratings. Ouch.

Why Live Earth was a dead loss

There was a moment at Live Earth when I knew for certain it was all going horribly wrong.

There were 70,000 people in Wembley Stadium. The organisers had hoped for a television audience of two billion, to highlight the imminent dangers of global warming. On stage, Tom Chaplin from Keane vainly tried to lead a singalong. Behind him, a big screen boasted "We Called - You Answered", while the numbers who had responded to Live Earth's text message pledge were rolled out. The first line was "3,389 UK responses".

Frankly, my local community signed up more people to protest against a phone mast, and our only celebrity was a voiceover actor for Bob the Builder.

It may be time to call a moratorium on global satellite-linked charity music events. In the past fortnight, we have witnessed two, which for all their good intentions were mediocre entertainment and had questionable results.

Holy fucking shit! Could it get any worse?

Live Earth: Dead on arrival

'IF YOU WANT to save the planet, I want you to start jumping up and down. Come on, mother-[bleepers]!" Madonna railed from the stage at London's Live Earth concert Saturday. "If you want to save the planet, let me see you jump!"

You just can't beat that. What else could capture the canned juvenilia of a 48-year-old centimillionaire — who owns nine homes and has a "carbon footprint" nearly 100 times larger than the norm — hectoring a bunch of well-off, aging hipsters to show their Earth-love by jumping up and down like children? I suppose she could have said, "Now put your right foot in / Take your right foot out / Right foot in / Then you shake it all about…. That's what climate change is all about."

Actually, I think the "Hokey Pokey" makes more sense.

But, hey, I don't want to bash Live Earth, which is not to be confused with Live Aid (1985, dedicated to eradicating African famine) or Live 8 (2005, promising to relieve African nations' debts). So with the African continent so well-fed — and debt free! — who can blame the Celebrity Concern Industry for moving on to its next big success?

The avowed point of Live Earth was to … can you guess? That's right: raise awareness about global warming. Considering the energy required to put on the show, the nine Live Earth concerts doubtlessly raised more CO2 than awareness. NBC's three-hour televised version got trounced by "Cops" and "America's Funniest Home Videos." Moreover, surely most of the people who attended or tuned in already knew about global warming before they saw the video tutorial about Ed Begley Jr.'s eco-friendly home and sanctimony-powered go-cart.

Egads, this is bad news.

Now check this out (no link - sorry), on the overall ratings for this lump of crap:

It was another dull summer Saturday of mixed leadership, with CBS the most-watched network and Fox No. 1 among adults 18-49. The three-hour Live Earth Concert on NBC finished last, with just 2.75 million viewers and a 0.9 rating/3 share among adults 18-49 from 8-11 p.m.

Fox’s double (original and repeat) dose of Cops was first from 8-9 p.m., with an average 4.31 million viewers and a 1.4/ 6 among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. That led into America’s Most Wanted at 4.90 million viewers (#2) and a 1.6/ 6 in the demo at 9 p.m. CBS opened with a repeat of Cold Case (Viewers: #2, 4.00 million; A18-49: #4, 0.7/ 3 at 8 p.m.), followed two hours of 48 Hours Investigates at an average 5.82 million viewers and a 1.4/ 5 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m. If you like scripted forensic crime solving, you should not miss the real thing on 48 Hours Investigates.

Over at ABC, a repeat of Monsters, Inc. averaged 4.70 million viewers and a 1.2/ 4 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m., followed by a repeat of America’s Funniest Home Videos (Viewers: #2, 3.56 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.1/ 4) at 10 p.m. What a night!

So, in the US, here is how the concert(s) did:

48 Hours Investigates: 4.82 million.
Monsters, Inc.: 4.70 million.
Cops (repeats): 4.31 million.
America's Funniest Home Videos: 3.56 million.
Live Earth: 2.75 million.

When you get beaten by "America's Funniest Home Videos," you might as well close up shop.

But Maybe Al Gore shouldn't feel so bad. After all, he got 2.75 million people to watch his show in one day. That is more than watch Keith Olbermann in an entire week.

In another move by the ultra-demented left, she now says that unless Nancy Pelosi (D-Nutjob) introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks, that she will run against Pelosi herself.

Sheehan Considering Run Vs. House Speaker Pelosi

Six weeks after announcing her departure from the peace movement, Cindy Sheehan said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.

Sheehan said she will run against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 as an independent if Pelosi does not seek by July 23 to impeach Bush. That’s when Sheehan and her supporters are to arrive in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour starting next week from the group’s war protest site near Bush’s Crawford ranch.

“Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership,” Sheehan told The Associated Press. “We hired them to bring an end to the war. I’m not too far from San Francisco, so it wouldn’t be too big of a move for me. I would give her a run for her money.”

Sheehan announced in May that she was leaving the anti-war movement and selling her 5-acre Crawford lot. She said that she felt her efforts had been in vain and that she had endured smear tactics and hatred from the left, as well as the right.

You heard right - Downercrats, delusional as usual, are not only pushing for a full-fledged US defeat in Iraq, but also want one in Afghanistan as well.

The leader of this decrepit movement of losers? Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii, a complete whackjob who should be in prison, not in Congress fucking up America.

Out-of-Afghanistan rumblings on the Hill

When they won control of Congress in November, Democrats pressed their case to withdraw troops from Iraq and refocus on Afghanistan, but some are growing impatient with U.S. operations in Afghanistan as well.

A few congressional Democrats go so far as suggesting that the Pentagon should pull out of Afghanistan now, while others say that troop withdrawal will be addressed after the military is out of Iraq.

Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii), a senior defense authorizer, wants the U.S. out of Afghanistan immediately, calling operations there “futile” in trying to effect political change in a country with a tangled history.

Most other Democrats want to focus on Afghanistan, with the goal of withdrawing the military down the road after the country is stabilized and any new Taliban resurgence quashed.

With a few exceptions, congressional Democrats no longer show any hesitation about withdrawing the military from Iraq. But they are more circumspect about Afghanistan, saying that the Bush administration let the situation worsen by shifting attention onto a protracted conflict in Iraq.

“We should have never gone to Iraq, because we would have been out of Afghanistan [by now],” Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) said in a brief interview.

Murtha, the chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee and a vocal opponent of the war in Iraq, said that by September, when he takes up the fiscal 2008 war supplemental funding, he would have a better sense of how to handle Afghanistan.

Yet making the argument that the U.S. needs to get out of Iraq and stay in Afghanistan can be politically challenging. While Democrats regularly note that the war in Iraq has now gone on longer than World War II, the U.S. has been in Afghanistan longer than it has been in Iraq. And arguments that Iraqis need to take control of their own country can be applied to Afghanistan as well.

The Afghanistan effort enjoys much more support among the American public, and Democratic leaders have sought to burnish their homeland security credentials by presenting an unwavering backing of the war there.

Both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) have stressed over the past several months that the U.S. should refocus on stabilizing Afghanistan and capturing Osama bin Laden, the architect of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

“The Taliban played a role in the 9/11 attacks by providing a safe haven for bin Laden,” said Drew Hammill, Pelosi’s spokesman. “Preventing a successful resurgence by the Taliban is a national security objective of the United States, and our troops will remain in Afghanistan until the objective is achieved.”

Pelosi and Reid, as demented as they are, realize that if their pathetic party pushes for a US withdrawal in Afghanistan and al Qaeda take advantage, the Downies' control of the Congress is gone for the foreseeable future.

Maybe that would be a good thing in the long run.

New Poll: 3/4th of Britons Believe "Climate Change" is Natural; Al Gore Threatens Suicide

In a rash of sanity, it appears that the British people have not been lost to the fog and fraud of the BBC and the rest of the liberal media pushing the lies of the Climate Nazis: in a new poll, 3/4ths of them believe that "climate change" is natural and very little can be done about it.

It appears that the Marxist brainwashing has failed.

Three Quarters Believe Global Warming A 'Natural Occurrence'

ALMOST three quarters of people believe global warming is a 'natural occurrence' and not a result of carbon emissions, a survey claimed today.

This goes against the views of the vast majority of scientists who believe the rise in the earth's temperatures is due to pollution.

The online study which polled nearly 4000 votes found that a staggering 71 percent of people think that the rise in air temperature happens naturally.

And 65 percent think that scientists' catastrophic predictions if pollution isn't curbed are 'far fetched'.

Emma Hardcastle, publisher at Pocket Issue which carried out the research, said: "If 71% of people feel that Man has nothing to do with the recent change in our climate then those same people are not going to buy into any movement to reduce their carbon footprint.

"We need to make it clear that there is nothing natural about the significant rise in both carbon emissions and global temperatures since the industrial revolution.

"Pocket Issue’s brief is to help people to understand the facts, encouraging them to click through to a carbon counter as a result.

Notice the elitist liberal shit from the woman quoted: she is basically saying, "Damn! We thought that years of telling people about the lie of `climate change' would have worked by now, but it hasn't! Hamas' Gaza faces bleak times

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Hani and Miriam's two-year-old son cried when fighting between Hamas and Fatah raged outside the family's Gaza City apartment, bullets coming through the windows. They told him the noise was just a party and the mortar blasts were the sound of frolicking elephants.

Two weeks later, with Hamas firmly in control of Gaza, the couple fear they won't be able to shield the boy and his newborn sister from the heightened isolation and poverty that seem sure to come.

Hamas has moved to restore law and order, collecting weapons, directing traffic and enforcing municipal codes at vegetable stands. But with Israel, its sworn enemy, in control of its borders, coastline and airspace — and with Fatah ignoring its pleas for a return to negotiations — even Hamas acknowledges it won't be able to go it alone in Gaza.

Hani, who gave only his first name because he belonged to a Fatah security force vanquished by Hamas, held his baby daughter in his arms as his wife explained in halting English that she's "very worried." On the day Hamas overran Gaza, Hani's boss, a well-known Fatah commander, committed suicide rather than be taken alive.

The end of the fighting between Hamas and Fatah has brought a measure of quiet to Gaza, however, and an amnesty declared for defeated Fatah fighters has largely held. Tens of thousands of Gazans flocked to the beach this weekend and streets and markets once again brimmed with life.

"This quietness is emerging from people's fear and trying to understand what has happened rather than an acceptance of what has taken place," said Ibrahem Ibrach, a political science professor at Gaza's al-Azhar University.

The green Hamas flag flies over security buildings once used by Fatah. Gaza's only remaining radio station — the Hamas-controlled Al Aqsa Radio — blares militant slogans. Secular men are growing beards in line with Islamic tradition.

Signs of the fighting are everywhere. Shattered windows of bullet-riddled and mortar-pocked buildings have yet to be replaced because people aren't sure the war is over.

Children wearing Islamic green head scarves march through Gaza's streets declaring loyalty to Hamas, and a joke e-mail circulating in Gaza shows an anti-bacterial liquid from Hamas' military wing with a label promising to cleanse "the corrupt, collaborators and mercenaries."

Oh, pity the poor Palestinians, now that they voted in Hamas last year in control of their government and Hamas took over the Gaza Strip in total.

The Palestinians have always been their worst enemy. This is one more piece of proof that they should never have their own country.

The BBC Polls and Finds "Scepticism" Over the Fraud of "Global Warming"

If you watch the BBC News program every day, or even regularly, you will see stories done which state with certainty that "climate change" exists, and those who don't think that it does are 1) stupid, and 2) nuts.

So imagine the shock at the Beeb when a poll showed that 56% of the British public has not bought their malarkey, and believe that those scientists and others who push the issue are doing it for...wait for it...money!

'Scepticism' over climate claims

The public believes the effects of global warming on the climate are not as bad as politicians and scientists claim, a poll has suggested.

The Ipsos Mori poll of 2,032 adults - interviewed between 14 and 20 June - found 56% believed scientists were still questioning climate change.

There was a feeling the problem was exaggerated to make money, it found.

The Royal Society said most climate scientists believed humans were having an "unprecedented" effect on climate.

The survey suggested that terrorism, graffiti, crime and dog mess were all of more concern than climate change.

Ipsos Mori's head of environmental research, Phil Downing, said the research showed there was "still a lot to do" in encouraging "low-carbon lifestyles".

"We are alive to climate change and very few people actually reject out of hand the idea the climate is changing or that humans have had at least some part to play in this," he added.

"However, a significant number have many doubts about exactly how serious it really is and believe it has been over hyped."

People had been influenced by counter arguments, he said.

Royal Society vice-president Sir David Read said: "People should not be misled by those that exploit the complexity of the issue, seeking to distort the science and deny the seriousness of the potential consequences of climate change.

"The science very clearly points towards the need for us all - nations, businesses and individuals - to do as much as possible, as soon as possible to avoid the worst consequences of a changing climate."

Innocent Muslims Tortured in England by Crusader Forces!

London (via Muslim News Service) - Today, Muslims in England are under more racism from Crusader and Zionist forces. Several innocent Muslims have been targeted by British authorities for crimes that only the Jewish Zionist entity could have set up: car bombs in London and an SUV crashing into the airport in Scotland.

We have a photo of one of these innocent Muslims being tortured - witnesses at the Glasgow Airport tell the Muslim News Service that after the SUV crashed, British police looked into the crowd for a Muslim man to blame the attack on, poured petrol over him, and set him afire:

This is an outrage! One witness, Halam al-Sinder, told the Muslim News Service, "I saw them looking for Muslims to blame this on. One police man said, `Get me a Muslim, and let's light him afire.' I know that they don't want to blame Jews for this because the new British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, is a Jew. And because British troops are killing Muslims by the thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan."
