The Republicans should run the following ad in congressional and Senate races this year:
"This is Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. They are in control of Congress. Both of them have been blocking the lifting of the moratorium on oil exploration off the coasts of the United States. They are asking for your vote this year, to solify their party's control of both houses of Congress. In 2006, the Democrats ran on "elect us and you will see lower gas prices." Gasoline then was $2.50 a gallon; now it is $4.20 a gallon.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are asking you to vote for Democrats this year. If you vote for them, you are approving of their refusal to allow more oil exploration. You are approving of their tax increases which they have promised will occur if a Democrat is in the White House to sign them into law.
The next time you fill up your gas tank, think of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. And then think about how your vote for their party in the election this November is a vote for $5.00 or $6.00 a gallon gas and higher taxes. And if you vote for them, you are asking them to do that to you. That is not a threat; that is a promise."
With that ad, Pelosi and Reid will become minority leaders in a heartbeat.
