Downies Throw in the Towel on Impeachment

The Downercrats, now at 14% approval in those pesky polls that the media minus Fox (MMF) refuse to even mention, have decided that they only get more unpopular - if that were possible - if they try to impeach President Bush. We know that they do not have the votes to convict in the US Senate, so any impeachment try would only be an exercise in futility.

Nancy Pelosi (D-Nutjob), Speaker of the House, realizes that she does not have the votes to remove the president, so she has told her fellow leftwing loonies that she won't even try.

Nice one, Nancy - admit the obvious and wait for the slap on the back. Except, in this case, you are dealing with the far left lunatics in your party who are not happy to hear that their beloved impeachment try is now dead forever.

Darn, shucks, shit.

Pelosi on Bush: “He’s not worth impeaching”

I had the pleasure of subbing in for Sam for a conference call with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today. Although there were a good number of progressive bloggers in attendance with a lot to say, Pelosi pretty much dominated the conversation, sometimes answering questions before people could even ask them. I was impressed with how knowledgeable she was on environmental issues in particular, ranging from biofuel creation and consumption to raising CAFE standards. Good stuff. Dave Johnson of Seeing The Forest has a fairly thorough recap of the conversation.

Dave actually asked the question I want to address here. Pelosi was discussing the absolute lack of oversight and accountability that has been a hallmark of the Bush junta, and Dave said, simply, “What are you going to do about it?”

Pelosi’s argument against impeachment was, simply, that it wouldn’t be worth expending the political capital and effort to push the process forward. If the situation had been Bush coming in as a new president, she said, things might have been different, but with less than two years left on his watch and his record as a miserable failure etched in stone , the stronger weapon was oversight. Pelosi specifically mentioned the subpoena power that, she said, is making the Dem Congress “Bush’s worst nightmare.”

Imagine - Nancy P says that Bush is a "miserable failure" at the same time that the American people say that they would rather get the clap than expect the Downercrats doing anything of substance, which is why their approval ratings are at 14%. And they can only get lower!

But, impeachment is not the Downies' only problem - in six months in power, they have passed nothing of substance. Nothing.

And because they won't take stab at removing President Bush, the lefties are up in arms.

Seriously.

Nancy Pelosi: Can't win, don't try

Who knew that Nancy Pelosi would end up adhering to the Bart Simpson view of the universe? In the rarefied Washington air of the Speaker, the sure bet (sic) of winning the White House in 2008 trumps any attempt at holding this Administration accountable for its crimes against the Constitution and the American people. In other words, it's all about the party (and presumably the Benjamins). And if that means that George W. Bush and especially Dick Cheney are never held accountable for their crimes, well so be it. After all, what is the Constitution when compared to the coffers of the DSCC?

How funny it is to see the daft left turn on their fellow assholes in the US House.

But this happens when you allow leftwing psychotics to take control of our legislative process.
