The AP: "Local al-Qa'ida Leader" Killed in Iraq

You know you live in a great neighborhood when you have your "local" market, your "local" gas station, and your "local" restaurant. The word local conveys a sense of closeness, of security.

Now imagine having "your local al-Qa'ida leader." According to the AP, this is another name for the latest Islamic terrorist slimeball to be caught and killed by American forces in Iraq.

By the way, what exactly is a "local al-Qa'ida leader"? Isn't that "a scumbag Muslim terrorist who is hiding in one place and blowing shit up and happens to be too close to your personal space"?

Not to the AP it isn't.

Local al-Qaida Leader in Iraq Killed

Iraqi forces killed a local al-Qaida in Iraq leader and two other insurgents in a raid north of Baghdad on Friday, and roadside bombs killed an American soldier and an Iraqi policeman, officials said.

Iraqi commando forces acting on a tip raided a house where Hamid al- Takhi and the two other insurgents were hiding in Samarra, a city 60 miles north of Baghdad, said police Capt. Laith Mohammed. All three were killed in a gunbattle.

Mohammed said al-Takhi had been responsible for many insurgent attacks against coalition forces and civilians in the area.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq _ the country's most feared insurgent group _ appeared in a video earlier this week trying to rally Sunni Arabs to fight Iraq's new government and denouncing Sunnis who cooperate with it as "agents" of the Americans.

Wow! Al-Qa'ida is "the most feared insurgent group"!

Next the AP will tell us they are just misunderstood Muslims with access to a lot of bomb-making material who have a grudge.

Incredible.
