Muslim Riots in France Continue, Media Says "Things are Getting Better"

Yup, things are improving in France. The riots are still going on, only not as bad as before.

According to the French, and their willing dimwits in the American media, this means things are hunky-dory, so they can make way for the rehabilitation of Jacques Chirac.

French Police Chief: Unrest Winding Down

PARIS - France's worst rioting since the 1960s seems to be nearing an end, the national police chief said Sunday as fewer cars were torched nationwide and Paris remained calm despite Internet and cell phone messages urging violence in the capital's streets.

In scattered attacks, youths rammed a burning car into a center for retirees in Provence and pelted police with stones in the historic heart of Lyon, the country's third biggest city. A firebomb was tossed at a Lyon mosque but did not explode.

The nationwide storm of arson attacks, rioting and other violence, often by young people from impoverished minorities, has lost steam since the government declared a state of emergency Wednesday.

Youths set fire to 374 parked vehicles before dawn Sunday, compared to 502 the previous night, police said. A week ago, 1,400 cars were incinerated in a single night.

If the downward trend continues, "things could return to normal very quickly," National Police Chief Michel Gaudin said, noting that French youths burn about 100 cars on an average Saturday night.

Now, imagine if riots had occured in America instead of France. Whoever was rioting was burning cars in many major American cities and their suburbs. Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims - whichever group, they are burning cars, buses, anything they can get their hands on.

Now, let's see the reaction of the American (and even foreign) media to this story after 17 days of riots:

Police Chief: Riots Subsiding

Los Angeles (AP) - The police chief of Los Angeles said today that he believes that rioting by disaffected youth, which has spread to numerous American cities, has subsided and will end quickly.

Chief Raymond Barnard said that only 300 cars were burned last night, as opposed to 450 the night before.

In Detroit, youths there burned 100 cars and 3 public transport buses.

In Miami, police clashed with hooded youths who attacked a police station.

In Philadelphia, trains and buses were burned.

In Montgomery, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia, police headed off the destruction of public buildings.

Critics of President George W. Bush said that his response to the riots show his racist side.

"The President of the United States needs to pay attention to the demands of these disaffected youth, who have no future because of his policies," Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Minority Leader in the US House of Representatives, said. Holding a press conference with US Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), the two leaders said that they have introduced the "Disaffected Youth in America Aid Package of 2005."

"We want to show these youths who want to burn down things that they should have government on their side. To that end, we want to offer free college, free health care, and free employment opportunities," Pelosi announced.

This is just a taste of what we would be hearing. Just imagine otherwise.
