Kuwaiti Terror Suspects: We are Not Guilty Because We Were Going to Iraq to Kill People

Imagine for a moment if a group of people plotting to kill people were arrested in, say, New York. The police find explosives, plans for the murders, etc. - in other words, smoking guns that these people were planning a lot of killings. However, the plotters plead not guilty - because, as their lawyer says, they were on their way to somewhere else - perhaps Oregon, or Texas - to kill the people, so they did nothing wrong in New York. Crazy, right? ACLU-type bullshit, correct? Well, the ACLU crappola has now spread to other places: in Kuwait, a bunch of terrorists have plead not guilty because they were going to blow shit up in Iraq, not Kuwait.

One has to read this crap to believe it to be true. Even after reading it, it is hard to believe it.

Defense of Kuwaiti Terror Suspects Say They Were Preparing for Fight in Iraq, Not Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY (AP) - Six suspects on trial for allegedly plotting to attack U.S. troops in Kuwait and local security officers had been preparing to go to Iraq to fight, not to attack targets at home, their defense lawyer said Saturday.

The defendants are among 37 Kuwaitis and other nationals accused of joining the Lions of the Peninsula, a group the prosecution claims was planning the attacks. Some are also facing counts of killing policemen in unprecedented clashes in January that led to their arrests.

Weapons, bombs and chemicals that could be used for making explosives were found in their possession.

But the defense argued the six - three Kuwaitis and three stateless Arabs who live in Kuwait - were planning to go to Iraq and asked for leniency from the court.

"I believe those young men have been deceived, and the way to deal with it is not tough sentences," their lawyer, Khaled al-Abdul-Jalil, told the three-judge panel.

"They readied themselves only for jihad (holy war) in Iraq," he said. After seeing the "crimes of the Americans in Iraq," including killing Muslim children and women, they believed that "jihad was their duty."

We would say that liberalism has caused this, but perhaps it is just normal Islamic thinking...in other words, bankrupt.
