The BBC: Half the Story, With Horseshit as Usual

The BBC likes to tell half the story - usually the liberal half.

They tell us that Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa) called for a withdrawal of American forces from Iraq. Then they tell us that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was questioned on the Sunday talk shows.

The part that the BBC somehow missed was that Asshat Murtha's withdrawal resolution, pushed by the Republicans, went down to defeat, 403-3, despite the fact that every Downie in the House has been calling for surrender in some way to America's enemies.

Rumsfeld rejects Iraq withdrawal

US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has strongly defended US policy in Iraq, saying an immediate troop pullout would be a "terrible thing".
Mr Rumsfeld appeared on four Sunday TV talks shows following Friday's raucous Congress debate in which a resolution on an immediate withdrawal was beaten.

[...]

In Friday's Congress debate, Mr Murtha called for troops to leave Iraq within six months, prompting some Republicans to accuse him of abandonment, surrender and even cowardice.

Mr Murtha, a decorated Vietnam veteran, also appeared on TV on Sunday, saying he had received great support for his position.

"I have never seen such an outpouring in the 32 years I've been in Congress of support and people with tears in their eyes, people walking along clapping when I'm walking through the halls of Congress, saying something needed to be said."

He predicted US forces would leave Iraq before congressional elections in November next year.

Hmmm...any word on how Murtha's fellow dimwitted simpletons, er, Downies, voted on his advice?

Of course not - the BBC wants you to know that Murtha, "a decorated Vietnam veteran" (as is this matters if the speaker is a Republican), got an "outpouring of support" from his friends in Congress.

Then they voted against him. What friends.
