As Nancy Pelosi Says: "It Must Be That Culture of Corruption"

Nancy Pelosi (D-Loon) says that when Republicans are indicted form alleged crimes, "it must be that culture of corruption."

As we firmly demonstrate here, two can play at that game:

Ex-N.M. Treasurer Pleads Not Guilty

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- Former state Treasurer Robert Vigil pleaded not guilty Monday to additional charges in the government's investigation of an alleged kickback scheme involving Vigil and his predecessor.

Vigil, who resigned last month as legislators were considering whether he should be impeached, was arraigned on four counts of money laundering and one of conspiracy.

The charges filed last week are in addition to 21 counts of extortion filed in September. Vigil, 52, earlier pleaded not guilty to those charges.

His attorney, Sam Bregman, has said the case against Vigil is weak and that federal prosecutors asked a grand jury to hand down more charges with the hope something will stick.

Prosecutors allege Vigil and former Treasurer Michael Montoya demanded kickbacks from investment advisers in exchange for steering state business to them.

A trial isn't expected to begin until next spring.

Montoya pleaded guilty Nov. 7 to one count of extortion. He has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors, who dropped a second charge.

So, what party does said Mr. Vigil belong to? Well, we looked into that, and find this little ditty:

Robert Vigil’s career at a glance

1998: Unsuccessfully seeks the Democratic nomination for governor.

So, as Ol' Nancy says, "It must be that culture of corruption" around the Downtrodden Party.

Darn, are they thieves.
