A Word on Harriet Miers
Today, October 27, Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination for the US Supreme Court.
This episode is an eye-opening one for us at Joobo. For years we argued for the election of conservatives so we could have electoral power, and, with that, judicial power.
But conservatives in DC, namely the squawking class (Charles Krauthammer, Ann Coulter, etc.) and the anti-abortion class (Sam Brownback, etc.), did their utmost to rob this woman of her day in court, or a fair hearing. They bullied her into withdrawing.
This site will never link to anything any of the squawking class says from this day forward, and we hope that somehow Republicans shy away from the polls when Brownback and any other Republican who sided with him to denigrate Harriet Miers are up for re-election. Let them be defeated by those they claimed to have stood up for.
Maybe if enough Republican politicians like Brownback get their heads handed to them, they will learn the lesson that it is the base, and not their inflated egos, that is the heart of the Republican Party.
