Lawyer: Corzine Broke The Law; Media Stays Silent

Senator Jon Corzine, who spent $60 million to win his US Senate seat, is running for Governor of New Jersey. But before this, he gave a $500,000 loan to a woman who is the head of a union - a union which has endorsed him and his working for his election. Sound ominous, no? According to a lawyer, Corzine committed a federal crime.

Not according to the mainstream media, which has barely covered this story. If Corzine were a Republican, CNN and MSNBC and local media would be having hourly updates - and Downies would be asking for a special counsel, a grand jury, an indictment, a conviction, and an execution.

CORZINE GAL-PAL LOAN A CRIME: LAWYER

August 19, 2005 -- PRINCETON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Sen. Jon Corzine, New Jersey's Democratic gubernatorial candidate, committed a federal felony by failing to disclose a half-million-dollar loan he'd made to the powerful union boss who was his girlfriend, a public-interest lawyer charged yesterday.

"There is no 'girlfriend loophole,' " said Bruce Afran, adding that he planned to officially complain to the Senate. "One of the highest-ranking union officers in the state is given a half-million-dollar gift by a sitting U.S. senator. That is precisely the type of transaction the Senate wants to know about."

He said he and his partner were preparing to file a complaint, accusing Corzine of falsifying a disclosure document, with the Senate Ethics Committee.

The crime is punishable by up to five years in federal prison.

Corzine lent $470,000 to Carla Katz, president of Communications Workers of America Local 1034, while the two were dating.

He canceled the mortgage loan around the time he announced his candidacy for governor. The union later endorsed Corzine, who is running against Republican Doug Forrester.

Where is the outrage? Downies have it in for Karl Rove, who may not have done anything wrong, and have not word for Corzine, who probably did.

More liberal bias from the American media.
