Imagine if...There Were Protests Against FDR

The American left and their ilk like to protest war and inhumanity and injustice - but only when a Republican is in the White House.

So, to make things fair, let us harken back to a day which never happened, to what it would look like if there were protests against President Franklin D. Roosevelt, liberal icon and a man who sent tens of thousands of Americans to their deaths on the battlefields of Europe and Asia...

Protestor Haunts President at Hyde Park During FDR Vacation

Hyde Park, New York, September 15 - Thomas Jones spends his days crying for his son William. William Jones, 20, was sent to Europe where he was killed storming the beach on D-Day earlier this year.

Thomas Jones remembers how he first learned of his son's death. "There was no notification by a person. I got home from work, and there was a telegram from Western Union, saying that my son had been killed on Utah Beach on June 6. There was no explanation how he died, or what would happen to his body."

Jones is most upset because the War Department, despite numerous letters from him, has yet to answer one question that he has regarding his son. So, in a fit of anger, he has decided to take his questions directly to the President of the United States.

President Roosevelt is vacationing for the entire summer at his retreat at Hyde Park, New York. Jones is camped out, down the road from his home, holding a sign which says, "President Roosevelt: My son died in the war. Tell me why."

Presidential spokesman Jim Marsden, when asked for a comment on Jones, reportedly told one reporter, "The President does not meet with parents of men killed in action. He wrote Mr. Jones a letter expressing his sadness over his death; however, with tens of thousands of men serving in the war against Nazi Germany and Japan, he cannot spend but a few seconds on each casualty."

Jones has contacted his congressman and US Senator, both of whom are liberal Democrats who support the President's policies, and neither has responded to Jones' requests. The AP and UP contacted both offices, but neither would respond to their requests, either.

A right-wing group, Americans for Justice for Our Soldiers (AJOS), condemned President Roosevelt's refusal to meet with Jones. "It is disgraceful, when this President allowed the attack on Pearl Harbor to occur, and is sending thousands of American boys to their deaths, not to even respond to one father's distress over his son's loss," said Sam Marvin, leader of AJOS, at a press conference. AJOS, which protests the President wherever he goes, says that Roosevelt's refusal to even meet with Mr. Jones showed how out of touch he was. "We will oppose the President in the 1944 election, and will throw our support behind any candidate who says they will get American forces out of Europe now." Marvin says his group will spend $10,000 on radio ads denouncing President Roosevelt's record on the war.

The White House continued to have no comment on AJOS or Jones' allegations.

Imagine if something like that happened. But don't bother - the liberal media would never have covered it. And no American worth his salt would have protested FDR during World War II...unless Roosevelt had been a Republican.
