Senator Creepo Says Tat-ta

US Senator Mark Dayton (D-Dumbshit) of Minnesota, whose family owns Target stores (and conveniently threw out the Salvation Army from fundraising in front of their stores), has given notice that he will not run for re-election next year:

Dayton won't run for re-election

Sen. Mark Dayton has announced that he will not seek re-election.

"I'm announcing today that I will not seek re-election to the Senate next year," the one-term senator announced during an afternoon conference call. "God willing, I will complete my term to the very best of my ability."

Dayton said it has been a "tremendous honor" to serve the people of Minnesota for the past four years. However, he said he did not believe he was the best candidate to keep the seat in the hands of the Democrats.

"Everything I've worked for and everything I believe in depends upon this Senate seat remaining in the Democratic caucus in 2007. I do not believe that I am the best candidate to lead the DFL party to victory next year."

You betcha, Senator. What said Mr. Dayton forget to mention is that in every poll taken he loses to every Republican candidate - including former US Senator Rod Grams, who Dayton beat in 2000.

Mark Dayton is a spoiled rich asshole who bought a US Senate seat by pretending to care about people. In fact, all he cares about is his own checkbook. Since he entered the Senate in 2001, all he has been really part of is the block and do nothing contingent - also known as the Democratic minority in the US Senate.

To Mr. Dayton, we say: Good riddance to you when you leave Washington in January 2007.

I guess you didn't hear that he donated his salary to the MN Seniors Federation.

Wowee. Considering that he is the heir to Target Stores and their entire financial empire, I don't think he could take the $120,000 a year or so without being called on it.

Then again, you sound like a Dayton supporter. Maybe your party can run a qualified candidate who has run before...how about Walter F. Mondale?
